# The Wojak Meme ## Origin **Feels Guy**, also known as **Wojak,** is an MS Paint illustration of a bald man with a sad expression on his face. The exact origin of the Wojak illustration is unknown. On December 16th, 2009, the earliest known I Wish I Was at Home MS Paint comic was submitted to the internet humor site Sad and Useless, which features the Wojak character standing in a corner at a party.

## From the depths of 4chan to cultural phenomenon According to the "ask me anything" thread on Reddit by a user claiming to be Krautchan user Wojak, the illustration was first discovered on the polish imageboard Vichan with the filename "twarz.jpg." In Polish, "wojak" translates (more or less) to "warrior" in English. The image was then popularized in the german language imageboard Krautchan. Wojak floated in and out of 4chan and reddit channels for the next couple of years until 2013. That year Wojack was revived by multiple articles posted on news sites as well as Facebook pages and youtube videos. On April 2nd, 2014 a page for Wojak (then called feels guy) was created on the internet culture wiki Encyclopedia Dramatica. On March 14th, 2015, the /r/Wojak subreddit was launched for edited versions of the original meme. This skyrocketed Wojak's popularity and brings us to today's cultural phenomenon. ## Wojak Today Though the original Wojak meme was based on a bald man with a sad expression the current day Wojak has evolved into many shapes and forms. Some exmples include but are not limited to Wojak Comics, Country Feels, Smug Wojak and a healthy ever growing relationship with Pepe the Frog. Though still popular in reddit and 4chan, the Wojak meme has come up full steam within the Crypto space in Telegram, Twitter and Discord. Here it has seen an accelerated growth phase and has led to the birth of many popular NFT and token launches on mutiple chains.
